Chip Turner has been named general manager of the News Democrat Leader in Russellville, Ky., the Grayson County News Gazette in Leitchfield, Ky., and the Macon County Times in LaFayette, Tenn.
The announcement was made Friday, April 17, 2015, by Bud Hunt, regional director for Civitas Media.
Turner has been serving as business development manager for the three properties in recent years, with outstanding revenue-related achievements.
He has served in a number of managerial capacities in the newspaper industry since 1983, when he was publisher, general manager and business partner with The Greenville Shopper in Greenville, Miss.
Later, as publisher, group manager, president and business partner with Bartlett Newspapers in Tennessee, he oversaw the expansion of the group from four newspapers to six newspapers, plus a shopper and an area-wide classified publication. Turner has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Delta State University.
“Chip is extremely skilled in all aspects of the business, and we are happy that he will continue to lead this diverse group of publications and properties,” Hunt said.
